Getting around by public transport – and saving money

Salzkammergut Tourism and the State of Upper Austria support guests who wish to use public transport during their stay.

Overnight guests receive a voucher worth €11.50 per stay, which can be redeemed for a public transport ticket in the wegfinder app. The voucher can be used, for example, for the Upper Austria Leisure Ticket (Freizeit-Ticket OÖ).

Freizeit-Ticket OÖ (Upper Austria Leisure Ticket)

The Freizeit-Ticket OÖ is a day pass valid across the entire regional public transport network in Upper Austria and the Salzkammergut region (Upper Austria + Salzburg).

It allows you to travel flexibly by train, bus, and tram, making it easy to explore the region. Price: €26.50

The ticket is valid for up to two adults and up to four children under 15 years of age. It allows unlimited travel within the period of validity. Note: Even though one ticket is already valid for two adults, each person (e.g. a couple) is entitled to their own voucher. This means that two Leisure Tickets can be redeemed per stay.

Validity period:

Monday – Friday: from 9:00 a.m.
Saturday, Sunday & public holidays: all day until 3:00 a.m. the following day

Which means of transport are included?

The Leisure Ticket is valid throughout the Upper Austria transport network and the entire Salzkammergut region (Upper Austria + Salzburg) for:

Regional trains operated by ÖBB (S-Bahn Upper Austria, regional trains, RegionalExpress)
Regional buses
Urban transport services
Local railways operated by Stern & Hafferl

Not valid on:

Long-distance trains (e.g. Railjet, ICE, IC, EC, Nightjet, Westbahn)
Pöstlingberg Railway in Linz

Benefit for the Salzkammergut Shuttle

If you use the Salzkammergut Shuttle for the final leg of your journey, holders of a Leisure Ticket receive a 50% discount on the fare for all accompanying passengers.

How to receive your voucher (€11.50)

The voucher is redeemed digitally via the wegfinder app.

1. Confirm your stay
After your booking or check-in, send proof of your stay (e.g. registration form or booking confirmation) to: mobilitaet@salzkammergut.at

2. Download the wegfinder app
Download the wegfinder app to your smartphone either via www.wegfinder.at

3. Receive your voucher code You will then receive your personal voucher code by email.

4. Redeem your voucher When purchasing a ticket in the wegfinder app, enter the voucher code during the payment process. The voucher value will be automatically deducted from the ticket price.

5. Use your ticket Your ticket will be saved directly in the app – you can start your journey right away.

Important information

Each voucher code can only be redeemed once
A maximum of 6 voucher codes can be redeemed per guest or app user
Tickets are stored directly in the wegfinder app
